EVENTS / DISTRIBUTION

The latest copy of Village Raw has been out a number of weeks now and while distributing the magazine has been a great way of getting to know the area we cover, and the faces behind the names - it's also proving quite a big ask for us time-wise. We don't have the available budget to hire a commercial distribution company and think perhaps there's two ways to go. 1. We find a local and reasonably priced van owner who'd like to take up the mantle or 2. We find a number of local volunteers who'd be willing to drop some boxes off around their area. Of course there is still 3. which involves us continuing to drive around in our Leaf - a few hours here and there... Whichever way we go the key for us, as with everything to do with the project, is keeping it within the community - it really helps to keep the conversation flowing. If you've got any suggestions or ideas we'd love to hear them: hello@villageraw.com

In the meantime if you'd like to receive your copy through the mail then we're always happy when people click this button and support the project:

COMMUNITY NOTICES

Petition to Ban BBQs in Waterlow Park

Hackney council have banned BBQs as they discovered that barbecuing for two or more hours resulted in ‘very high’ localised levels of particulate matter pollution during the summer of 2018.  From mid-June 2019, Camden have decided to restrict BBQs in Waterlow Park to two zones: the bandstand area and the large patch of grass near the cemetery.  However, the children's play area is sandwiched right between these two zones.  So children will be exposed to concentrated levels of toxic smoke and particulates. Camden Green party measured air quality in various parts of north London and the junction next to Waterlow Park (Highgate Hill, Dartmouth Park Road and Hornsey Lane) is already in the 'black zone' for toxic NO2, nitrogen dioxide, (the darker the level, the higher the NO2 levels). More information
