A cockerel crows in Crouch End?

crouchendsitter Daniel Houghton posted on Twitter the following question

"Can anybody else hear the cockerel crowing in #crouchend? Has been going on for weeks!" to which my reply is "No, is it tinnitus?"

I'm sure I heard one coming from the flats on Topsfield Parade and assumed it was one of those annoying electronic things. Goodness knows why you'd want that though!

I was told only last week (1st June) that it is indeed an electonic sound of a bird of prey to frighten away the pigeons. So that's why they are all over the Town Hall Square (and Crouch Hall Road)!

Whilst waiting for the W5 on Friday I heard the recording going off. The pigeons on the houses in Topsfield Parade continued sleeping. They've obviously sussed it!!
