A CHILDREN’S PROJECT ABOUT PRIORY PARK

This new Pack is aimed at children roughly between ages 8 and 12, or school years 5, 6 and 7.

It can be used by:

  • Parents and children as a family activity

  • Schools as a local history project

  • Home/School Associations as a week-end or holiday activity for parents and children

  • Local Primary and Secondary teachers as a transition project for Key Stage 2 children moving to Key Stage 3

  • Children’s groups such as Woodcraft Folk, Brownies, etc.

  • Any other groups of adults and children interested in finding out more about the history of their local park.

The pack contains:

  • A detailed history of Priory Park, chiefly for the adults

  • Many photos of the park over time

  • A guided walk through the park

  • Information and discovery sheets for the children to use

  • Interactive and group work for the children

  • Opportunities for written work during or after the walk

  • Extension activities

The work has been planned and written by Jennifer Bell and Janet Owen, who have over 70 years teaching experience between them. Jennifer and Janet are both members of the Archive Team at Hornsey Historical Society and are interested in promoting to children knowledge and love of local history and how it shapes our lives today.
