"According to the Department of Health 1 in 5 older people see friends, family or neighbours less than once a week. Shocking as this is, at Neighbourhoods Connect we're minded to go one better than 'mapping loneliness' as the DH has asked local authorities to do. What we are intent on doing is mapping the places that some older people already go, as well as the groups and activities they join in. We think this is a better way of helping Hornsey's (and, if there's the interest, Haringey's) loneliest older people connect with their neighbours and hopefully overcome their isolation.
If you haven't received an invite to our Hornsey Connect event </index/social_care_and_health/help-at-home/nc/warmandwell/warmandwell-popups.htm> but would still like to attend do get in touch with me on 07976 457 380 or email david.clements@haringey.gov.uk "
This is an opportunity for residents on the West side of the borough to contribute to what's out there for the older population - groups, choirs, events, meeting places and very important what the local population want. Please join in and give David Clements a call to register or if you are on-line drop him an email to book a place.
Any queries please drop me a line or give me a call. Anyone wanting an email flier or hardcopy flier I should be receiving some next week.
For ease of response I have included Dave Clemence email address in the CC box so that you can make contact easily.
Finally do please pass this email on as appropriate.
