Event Description

This is a reminder of the London Forum open meeting next Monday on the subjects of localism, empowerment and devolution.

The meeting will be held at 6pm for 6:30 pm start on 1st November in the Gallery at 75 Cowcross Street near to Farringdon station.

Martin Simmons of the Town & Country Planning Association will give a talk on the views of that organisation on the Coalition Government's direction of travel on localism and structural reform, affecting the way boroughs will work and engage communities.

Martin was formerly chief planner of the London Planning Advisory Committee and is a Vice President of London Forum.

Peter Eversden will explain the proposals by the Mayor for devolution to the GLA and also from the GLA to boroughs of various functions and explore the implications of the recent plans by boroughs to combine jobs and the delivery of services.

There will be time for discussion of the implications of these changes, and of the outcome of the Public Spending Review, for future working of community groups with their borough.

Please have a representative at this event and help London Forum and its members to prepare for the Government's Localism Bill and for the opportunities and issues that are likely to arise locally.
